Teen Do Paanch Actor Bidita Bag: ‘Bengali Directors Know Me And Talk To Me, But They Don’t Take Me In Their Projects’- EXCLUSIVE
Bidita Bag is a known name in the OTT space. She has been part of shows like Bhaukaal and The Missing Stone, and films like Babumoshai Bandookbaaz opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Currently, she is a part of the Disney+ Hotstar show Teen Do Paanch with Shreyas Talpade. In the show, the duo portrays a couple who adopt triplets but soon find out that they are pregnant themselves.

Bidita originally hails from Bengal and before starting in the Hindi film and OTT industry, she had worked in a few Bengali projects as well. But it doesn’t seem like the actress has any more plans to go towards the east again. “I always wanted to do Bengali films but I did not get enough opportunities there and thus I had to shift my base to Mumbai. Whatever I have shot in Bengal, I had done it with my team from Mumbai. I have just come to Bengal, shot and went back. I am not getting any work from Bengal. Bengali directors know me and talk to me, but they don’t take me in their projects. A very well-known Bengali director told me that bringing Bengali actors from Mumbai is like going to London to see Kohinoor,” she shares.

However, even if she didn’t find good opportunities in Bengal, Bidita did find acceptance in the OTT space and she shares what makes the platform special for her. “OTT gives an equal platform to everyone. There is no discrimination. In films, unless you are a part of a very big project or associated with the movie mafia, you won’t get proper number of shows and good time slots in theatres. If there is a big film coming, your film would be removed from theatres. But this does not apply to OTT. If your project is good, people will see it and the platform is very fair in that regard,” she asserts.

Meanwhile, as for her upcoming line up, Bidita has to resume shoot for Bhaukaal 2 which got halted due to the pandemic and the consequential lockdown. “After vaccination, I’ll start with Bhaukaal 2. We had started the shoot before the lockdown, but then one of our cast members passed away. So, we will resume that shoot soon. And there are some more projects which have a few days of work left,” she concludes.
